Arrival in Lisbon
Welcome to Portugal!
Our guide will pick you up and transfer you to Sesimbra, a lovely fishing town set in a sheltered bay; a perfect place for the start of your tour! Breathe in the fresh air of the Atlantic Ocean and make sure to relax and recharge your batteries because tomorrow new adventures will be awaiting you!
Bike from Sesimbra to Grândola
A fantastic first day with emphasis on crossing the Arrábida Natural Park.
Here you will have the chance of admiring a rare example of very ancient Mediterranean vegetation, which are a result of a very specific microclimate and sharp topography. This park represents a peaceful, natural and protected encounter between the land and sea. Halfway through our ride, we will cross the Sado River by ferry in order to reach the Tróia Peninsula, as we keep on riding to Grândola. Stop at any of the exceptional restaurants which are set over the Atlantic Ocean and have a taste of some of the exquisite and traditional gastronomy.
Bike from Grândola to Cercal
Go through Grândola, the city that inspired our strong and revolutionary musicians to compose amazing intervention music.
As you follow South, the cork forest fields will be keeping you company until you arrive to Santiago do Cacém. Pass through this peaceful and charming village, which holds a medieval castle set atop a modest hill. Finally, you will be continuing to Sonega and shortly after you will be arriving at your cozy hotel in the town of Cercal. A peaceful and traditional accommodation is expecting you! Enjoy the silence and tranquility.
Bike from Cercal to Odeceixe
Today, you'll enter the famous natural reserve of southwest Alentejo and the Vicentina coast (prepare to be blown away).
Start by Vila Nova de Milfontes, where the Mira River and the Atlantic Ocean meet culminating into a stunning view over the bridge. Nearby, you will be able to find the stunning Cape Sardão. As you move down the coastline, you will be able to admire the shafts embedded in the rock walls, the seed islets here and there and the many white stork couples that have chosen this coasting as their nesting site. As you follow through the fields you will eventually arrive at a river, where at its end, you'll arrive at Odeceixe. This is a charming village sitting on a hillside which is known for its old windmill that is located on the tallest hill.
Bike from Odeceixe to Pedralva
Start the day by going to one of the most beautiful sceneries of this coast - Odeceixe beach.
Then, you will follow a valley where once caravels sailed to the village of Aljezur, which is located about five kilometers inland. In Alzejur, ride through the narrow streets and visit the medieval castle! Then you will be riding through some forests which will eventually lead you back to the sea. As you traverse some more valleys, you will then arrive at a typical old village with an interesting recent history. The Village of Pedralva was once inhabited by over 100 people, but entered a painful process of desertification. Nowadays, thanks to the hotel, Pedralva lives again.
Bike from Pedralva to Sagres
Follow a coastal route that will let you discover some of the most beautiful and secret beaches of the Vicentina coast.
Then, you will ride south until Cape São Vicente, the south-westernmost point of continental Europe. This is a magical place where we almost hear the echoes of the voices of the sailors and pilgrims. Rounded by monumental cliffs and outstanding views of the coastline, the cape is not only a beauty to behold but also a privileged area to watch the natural phenomenon of bird migration.
