Transfer from Faro to Tavira
Welcome to the Algarve!
After your welcome, we will drive you to Tavira. Once a former Roman seaport occupied by the Moors and a town formerly known for tuna fishing, it is nowadays a lovely and charming town with cobblestone streets and traditional white-washed houses surrounded by golden beaches and by the famous Ria Formosa Natural Park. Enjoy the slower pace of Tavira while exploring its best sights. Visit the ruins of its hilltop castle, discover an old Roman bridge on the Gilão river banks and, take some time to admire some of the 22 Gothic and Renaissance churches. An excellent launching point for our stunning MTB adventure. Make sure to enjoy its architectural and natural heritage!

Your adventure begins.
This will be your first ridding day! Leave the hotel and ride along the serene paths close to the Algarve mountains. The short but challenging climbs will reveal typical villages and take you to Cacela Velha, a picturesque coastal town with a fortress, from where you will have one of the best views of the Ria Formosa (Natural Park). From here, you can also admire the beautiful Cacela Velha beach, already considered one of the best beaches in the world. Then, from this point, you will ride along the Ria until Tavira. On the way, you will pass by several villages like Cabanas. Once a bustled fishing village, nowadays it's the perfect place to taste the typical cuisine and especially locally caught seafood and fish.

Exploring the deep and interior Algarve.
Today you will take an exhilarating ride through the scenic interior of Algarve, where you can see and feel the beauty of nature. Take a deep breath as the effort grows up in your legs, and get ready for unforgettable moments. You will discover the beautiful “Pego do Inferno”, a small lagoon and waterfall surrounded by a refreshing arboreous area. Feel free to enjoy a refreshing swim before continuing your ride up the mountain. While cycling, let your awareness settle on your surroundings and use the moment to feel nature, admiring its incredible views and listening to its natural sounds.
Bike from São Brás de Alportel to Alte
Explore the almost forgotten and untouched Algarve.
After a great and fulfilling breakfast, your adventure through the interior Algarve will continue. Ride and explore deep inside some typical villages, downhills, and mountains! Pass by the classified site of Fonte Benémola, an area of great beauty with a spring of water next to a small stream. Then, a great choice of roads and trails will take you to the lovely hillside village of Alte, considered by many as the most typical village in Algarve. Surrounded by the hills of Caldeirão, it is famous for its whitewashed houses with simple roofs, freshwater springs, and delicious pastry with figs and carob. Look for the famous fountains and dive into the natural swimming pools.

Conquer the historic city of Silves.
Today, the route will take you between fruit and cork-oak trees, green valleys, and some of the best single tracks of the program, making it one of the greatest experiences of this tour. After São Bartolomeu de Messines, you will find two water dams offering spectacular views of the mountains. The Arade dam is also known as the Blue Dragon River due to its dark blue color and unusual curvy shape when seen from above. From there, as you approach Silves, a lovely historic city, you will be struck by the imposing walls of its Moorish castle rising above the hills. Finish your day with a good meal with a castle view.

Meeting the Atlantic Ocean!
Today, our journey starts along the Arade and Odelouca Rivers. From where you can enjoy the typical rural scenery. As you head straight to the Atlantic Ocean, you will be delighted with the incredible local culture and the coastal fisherman lifestyle. Pass by one of Europe’s largest bays, a golden sand beach called Meia Praia, while you enjoy the beautiful coast. Then reach the city of Lagos, the oldest town of Algarve, with the Moorish wall surrounding it serving as evidence for that fact. Lagos is also a historic center of the Portuguese age of discoveries and the home of the famous Henry the Navigator. Reserve some time to walk around downtown to celebrate your adventure.
