Reconnect with nature on an unforgettable journey through endless fields of cereals, fodder, and industrial crops.
Experience the stunning patchwork of meadows and vast pastures that stretch as far as the eye can see. Along the way, pass the historic Fronteira bus station before reaching the charming town of Cabeço de Vide, nestled by a life-giving river. Here, immerse yourself in the renowned thermal baths, where the ruins of an ancient Roman bathhouse and archaeological treasures reveal a rich heritage. As you continue, the scenery shifts to beautiful groves of olive trees, holm oaks, and cork oaks, guiding you to the tranquil town of Alter do Chão. Known for its warm and welcoming community, this peaceful haven invites you to relax and recharge, setting the stage for the adventures that await you tomorrow.

After a great and filling breakfast, you will start today’s journey towards the center of the village. At the beginning of your ride, you can stop to visit Alter do Chão's Medieval Castle or pass by on your way back to the hotel later on. Along your way today, you will have a chance to take a swim at the Jardim das Termas de Sulfúrea's river beach, a spring water complex. Then, you will pass through Cabeço de Vide Village and head back to your hotel.

Cycle towards Serra de São Mamede Natural Park.
Pass small villages such as Crato, Flor da Rosa, and Alagoa. You will ride along the old roads and rural paths and across a vast area of olive trees. Before you get to your hotel, you will get a chance to see an “Anta”, a megalithic monument composed of five or six mainstays of pyramid shape-irregular conical, lying on a granite slab that appears to be an original hat.

In Serra de São Mamede, you'll find an unexpected Alentejo, high instead of flat, green instead of dry, where you can discover traces of human presence in different historical eras. To discover this protected area, enjoy the varied vegetation and watch birds such as the Bonelli's eagle, a symbol of the Park. If you're lucky, you might spot wild boar and deer. To recover your energy, enjoy and delight yourself with the tasty regional specialties once you head back to Castelo de Vide.
Bike Castelo de Vide Loop (Marvão)
The last cycling day and the last chance to see Serra de São Mamede's Natural Park.
You will cycle towards Marvão, the highest point of the whole trip, at 820 m altitude. Once you are there, we suggest you visit Marvão's Medieval Castle. After that, you will pass through small villages such as Santo António das Areias and São Salvador da Aramenha, where you will get a chance to swim in river beaches that you will find there. A Roman bridge is also a must-see along your journey today.
Transfer from Castelo de Vide to Lisbon
