Our guide will pick you up and take you straight to your hotel so that, after your welcome briefing and bike fitting, you can start exploring this beautiful village. Santa Comba Dão is a place that will enchant you with its mystical atmosphere. There is nature, tradition, and history to discover here, an alliance between modernity and tradition, maintaining a peaceful, harmonious standard of living and communion with a landscape dominated by the river and the forest. Crossed by the Dão, Criz, and Mondego rivers, the territory is home to the “paradisiacal” bathing area of Senhora da Ribeira. Magnificent views surprise visitors at every bend in the river, with nooks and crannies populated by chestnut and oak trees, cultivated fields, and small villages harmoniously distributed throughout the landscape, dominated by the Aguieira reservoir. This is just the beginning of an unforgettable journey!
Cycle from Santa Comba Dão to Viseu
Cycle along the scenic River Dão, through lush vineyards and the historic Romanesque Church of Canas Santa Maria.
On today’s journey, you'll follow the River Dão, known for its banks that provide the grape variety for producing the famous Dão Wine, one of the best and most abundant mature Portuguese wines. Take advantage of the soft ascent to admire the vineyards and everything that surrounds you. You'll pass the Romanesque Church of Canas Santa Maria, in Tondela, classified as a National Monument. As you get closer to Viseu, you'll realize that this city is full of history and a vast heritage, which you can visit if you have some time. Before arriving at the hotel, you can see the Porta do Soar, one of the seven gates in the ancient Walls of Viseu, very close to the City's History Museum.
Cycle from Viseu to São Pedro do Sul
Today's goal is to reach São Pedro do Sul, nestled in the heart of the Lafões valley and surrounded by the Arada, Gralheira, and S. Macário mountains.
Today you will set off from Viseu and begin your ride! This stage is primarily unpaved, offering a scenic journey through nature, home to rare bird species and dotted with the region's characteristic schist village houses, featuring stone walls and slate roofs providing amazing sceneries.Along the route, you'll encounter a notable landmark: a locomotive that is impossible to miss. You'll also traverse the Forno Telheiro railway bridge, now converted into an eco-trail. Cross River Vouga for the first time on this tour, a vital waterway feeding into Ria de Aveiro. Upon arriving in São Pedro do Sul, we recommend indulging in the town's renowned thermal baths where you can unwind and rejuvenate in a stunning and tranquil natural setting.
Cycle from São Pedro do Sul to Sever do Vouga
Begin your day by admiring the scenic beauty of the Vouga River as you cross the footbridge near the hotel in São Pedro do Sul.
As you journey along this route, you'll come across another historic locomotive, a charming reminder of the area's rich railway heritage. The trail offers ample opportunities to appreciate the stunning landscapes that surround you. Continue your ride by crossing the Vouzela railway bridge, which has been out of service since the late 20th century. Midway through this stage, in the village of Prova, you’ll encounter a magnificent century-old cork oak tree, a testament to the enduring beauty of the region. Cross the Vouga River at Abade Santiago’s Bridge, also known as Pessegueiro Bridge. As your adventure concludes, you’ll arrive in Sever do Vouga, a quaint town known for its friendly locals and abundant natural heritage. This stage promises a day filled with incredible trails and exhilarating single tracks, showcasing the best of northern Portugal's landscapes.

Start your day by savoring the local breakfast offerings before setting off for a day to remember. Your destination is Aveiro, one of Portugal's best-kept secrets. The stage begins with a downhill ride that provides breathtaking views of the region, especially over the picturesque vineyard landscapes. Then, take your time to enjoy the serene views of the Vouga River and breathe in the fresh, crisp air along the way. Before you know it, you'll arrive in Aveiro. Known as "The Portuguese Venice," Aveiro is renowned for its charming canals that weave through the city, creating an atmosphere of tranquility and beauty. If you have time, take a ride on one of the iconic Moliceiro boats. Historically used for harvesting moliço, a type of seaweed used as fertilizer, these boats now feature colorful panels and navigate the urban channels of Ria de Aveiro. Also don't miss the chance to try the famous local sweet, “ovos moles,” made from egg yolk and sugar, wrapped in delicate wafers shaped into various forms.
