Transfer from Porto Airport to Monção
Welcome to Portugal!
Our guide will pick you up at the airport and drive you to your accommodation in Monção. Monção is a peaceful town in northern Portugal that lies just a few hundred meters from the border of Spain. You will be surprised by the stories and places you can explore at this hidden destination, located in the heart of the cool and luxuriantly green region where the famous Vinho Verde is produced. Use your free time to walk through this medieval town and conquer its medieval walls and castle, admiring its amazing views over the River Minho and the Spanish mountains. In addition, you can visit the healing hot springs, the cinema museum, or even learn about the Land of Smugglers. Enjoy!
Bike from Monção to Valença do Minho
Discover Valença, Portugal’s Fortress town on the river Minho.
Today, you will ride towards the historical town of Valença. Overlooking Spain across the border as you cycle along the Minho River, you will follow an ancient railway converted into a bike lane. The several train stops are still there, making this day even more special. Lapela is one of these little stops. Here, you can admire the imposing Lapela Tower, which dates from the 14th century. Once back to the bike lane, enjoy the beauty of the surroundings, and soon, the fortress of Valença on top of the hill will sing to you. Valença do Minho, or just Valença, occupies a strategic place above the picturesque Rio Minho. Admire the amazing views. After all, no place has a better view than this medieval fort village!
Bike from Valença do Minho to Vila Praia de Âncora
Discover the ancient and quiet village of Vila Praia de Âncora.
Leave the beautiful and fortified city of Valença do Minho by the west door and continue riding towards the sea. Follow the river until Vila Nova da Cerveira, where you can find a fortress built just after 1640 to guarantee the safety of Portuguese land against Spain. Follow the path and conquer the old Castle of Vila Nova the Cerveira from the XIII century. The old part of town is well preserved and lovely. From here, the path will cross some villages, and once you get to Seixas, you will leave the riverside and go to Vila Praia de Âncora.

Exploring Portugal’s Atlantic Coast!
After the last days riding along with the beautiful green scenarios of the Minho River, today you will ride along the sea. Leave Caminha and follow a beautiful road straight to Moledo, a beach located in an area of great natural beauty. Later, while cycling in the middle of the fields and following the agriculture lanes, you will find a little lighthouse at the hilltop. Admire the views and continue towards Viana do Castelo, the biggest city in the Minho region. Along the way, you will cross several little beaches and beautiful places, and, in the end, all the magic will be revealed. Full of cultural and historical significance, Viana do Castelo will delight you! Can you imagine a better place to stay?
Bike from Viana do Castelo to Esposende
This day will take you along the Atlantic Coast.
As you make your way to the south, you will have the ocean as your company. Once you cross the Gustave Eiffel Bridge near Viana do Castelo, you will head towards the coast. As you follow part of the Santiago alternative path, you will pass several villages and arrive at the Neiva River. A river that you will cross like a pilgrim, on none other but a Spartan bridge! An absolute delight. By the bottom of the hill and after passing through two villages, you will arrive at Esposende - a nice and beautiful town at the river mouth of the Cávado. Nowadays, it's a beach town with a beautiful coastline front, lighthouse, and a fort from the 17th century. A great place to enjoy a sunny afternoon and relax.
Bike from Esposende to Vila do Conde
Leave Esposende by a bridge to Fão and enter the Northern Littoral Natural Park.
While following the dunes, you will be delighted by these lands' peace, tranquility, and beauty. Once you get to the beachfront, you will cross to Póvoa do Varzim and Vila do Conde. Póvoa do Varzim's fishing port is the busiest in the north of Portugal. In contrast, Vila do Conde has a smaller port but with a great historical legacy. It was the port where the vessels were once built during the era of the discoveries in the 14th and 15th centuries.
