Itinerary
Arrival at Lisbon or Porto
Welcome to Portugal!
On your first day you will be greeted by our guide at the airport of your choice Lisbon or Porto, and transferred to Alcongosta, located at the heart of Serra da Gardunha mountain range. Seated on a hilltop in a natural park and ecological reserve, Natura Glamping is awaiting you and promises to blend with the surrounding natural landscape as to leave no trace. A magical place overlooking the Serra da Estrela mountain range.
Bike from Alcongosta to Idanha
After a typical breakfast, we start this first day riding south.
Our goal destination will be Idanha! As you cycle, you will pass by some historical villages like Alpedrinha, Póvoa da Atalaia and Castelo Novo with the latter standing out for its concentrated yet harmonious design. You will find some breathtaking views, ancient bridges and some cork and oak forests which will guarantee a gorgeous cycling day marked by our history.
Bike from Idanha to Penamacor
After you leave Idanha-a-Nova, you will pass by a beautiful lake located in Idanha-a-Velha, a picturesque village and one of the oldest in Portugal
Founded by the Romans, it was descended upon by civilizations including the Visigoths, Moors and the Order of the Knights Templar. Then, engraved into the slope of a great steep elevation, rises Monsanto with its granite houses which are swollen by the rocks themselves. The day will end at Penamacor, another historical village which has a castle sitting at its summit.
Bike from Penamacor to Belmonte
The beautiful mountain views and bucolic rural landscapes will make this day a unique one.
Some amazing little roads will take you until Belmonte, which is perhaps the Portuguese town with the strongest Jewish presence. The presence of Hebrew culture and tradition has prevailed in this area since the early 16th century! And because there’s also history in our food and wine, today you will have the special opportunity of participating in a wine tasting at Quinta dos Termos.

Admire the granite houses that are built into the rocks and feel the authentic rural Portuguese life.
The historical villages were created in an area full of natural assets, which is known as the Portuguese Beira, located near the Serra da Estrela, Gardunha and other national parks. With this surrounding setting it is impossible to resist the desire of discovering the numerous ways that take you through the traditional villages such as Sortelha, a gothic inspired town with a 14th century parish church.

From the landscapes of the Zêzere Valley, to the charm and mystery of the surrounding bridges, villages and the stories of ancestral life.
Belmonte... A village as old as Portugal. Today, it is your turn to conquer all the culture and heritage of this region, which you can take with you and always remember! After leaving Belmonte you will ride towards the Serra da Estrela Natural Park, an exceptional place. It holds the record for the largest protected area in the country. Then, you will ride south, where historical villages like Verdelhos await you. By the end of the day, you will be coming back to Belmonte. Be inspired by the breathtaking views and take the chance to taste some of the most traditional products of this area!
