Gerês Mountain Hike
You will hardly find a place like the upper valley of Teixeira Meadow!
Starting in Pedra Bela view point, this circular hike takes you through one of the best hikes in Gerês and visits the waterfall of Arado, perfect place to refresh yourself in hot summer days. During the transfer from Porto city center our guide will also be able to show you the bridges of Rio Caldo and Cávado, the Geira Roman Way and the dam of Vilarinho da Furna. While you are hiking you’ll be immerse in the most unique National Park of Portugal and enjoy the amazing fauna and flora that is part of the UNESCO’s Biosphere Reserve. You can find in the Teixeira Valey and the Albergaria Oak Forest, some of the most amazing places you’ll hike.

Rio Caldo Bridges
The Rio Caldo Bridges, built in 1954, one year before the inauguration of the Caniçada dam was the work of Engineer Edgar Cardoso. Today these bridges are considered a symbol of Gerês. The Caniçada Dam is located in the counties of Terras de Bouro and Vieira do Minho, in the area of the Cávado river. Its construction was completed in 1955.

The Geira Roman Way (know as Via XVIII or Antonino Itinerary), had the popular name of VIA NOVA, an important Roman Road in the Iberian Peninsula that linked Braga to Astorga. It is thought that it was built in the second half of the 1st century A.C. and part of the immense road network built by the Roman Empire.
