Transfer from Lisbon to Castelo de Vide
Welcome to Portugal!
Our guide will pick you up at the airport. Make yourself comfortable in the car while we drive you to your first hotel. If you have some free time on the first day, take a stroll around the village!
Hike Castelo de Vide Loop
Today, you will do a circular hike to discover the beautiful nature surrounding Castelo de Vide.
As you start going up the hills of São Mamede Mountain Range, you will find the fault zone of Castelo de Vide, created by the movement of tectonic plates. An interesting site for any geologist! Castelo de Vide has a variety of freshwater springs spread across the land, filled with rich minerals, great for therapeutic use. Once you get to the top, enjoy the most amazing view of the church of Nossa Sra. da Penha at your side. Once you make it back to the center of the village after crossing through the woods, the time has come to indulge in a local pastry or a glass of wine!
Hike from Meada to Castelo de Vide
Wake up, smell the fresh air, and start your adventure with a short car transfer.
Once you arrive at Meada, you will find the biggest menhir (standing rock) in the entire Iberian Peninsula, dating back to the Chalcolithic period. As you move on, you will discover many other megalithic sites aligned with each other. You will be walking on the land of our ancestors, discovering several interesting dolmens once you arrive at Coureleiros Megalithic Park. This day will be filled with interesting things to see, guaranteed to fill you with joy!
Hike from Castelo de Vide to Marvão
If you haven't explored the castle, today will be your last chance to do it!
Go to the roof area and get a 360-degree view of the beautiful surrounding green landscape. As you move on, you will arrive at Marvão, a village surrounded by walls and home to a new castle. On your way to this magical medieval town, you'll cross different forest areas of Pyrenean oak and chestnut with high ecological value for the region and the catalysts for increased biodiversity. At the end of your day, follow the ancient cobbled stone road to a deserved rest and a delicious meal in this unique place.
Hike from Galegos to Marvão
Take a short transfer to the little town of Galegos and get ready for a gorgeous day.
The Alentejo region is known for its amazing traditional Portuguese food. A big part of its foundation comes from the ancestral knowledge of making the tastiest olive oil! Take some time to visit the Olive Oil Museum in Galegos and observe the olive groves along the way back to Marvão. Visit the castle on top of the hill and see a beautifully colored sunset of the town and the mountains which lay at a distance.
Hike Marvão Loop (Portagem)
After a delicious breakfast, put your walking boots on and follow the way to Portagem.
The Sever River passes close to the town, and if the weather is sunny and warm, we highly recommend that you take the opportunity to refresh yourself in the clear waters of the natural pool. Return to Marvão through another beautiful countryside road, breathe the fresh air, and enjoy your last day in town with a delicious dinner and a glass of local red wine.
